12 men have been arrested in the Canadian city of Toronto on terrorist related charges.
Five youths were also detained.
Police said the men were planning to commit a series of al-Qaeda-inspired terrorist attacks in southern Ontario.
They had obtained components used in bomb making, including three tonnes of ammonium nitrate.
Officials said the group posed a real and serious threat and had the capacity and intent to carry out attacks.
Meanwhile, in security officials in Britain say they were acting on credible information of a potential chemical attack when they raided a house in east London yesterday.
A 23-year-old man who was shot during the terrorism operation in Forest Gate remains in hospital under armed guard.
His younger brother has also been arrested and is being detained for questioning.
