The Tallaght Hospital Action Group has said it will fight the decision of the Health Service Executive to locate the new national children's hospital at the Mater Hospital in Dublin.

Richie O'Reilly of the THAG, said there was poor public transport access to the Mater Hospital and that parking there was very limited.

The group has claimed that the decision in the favour of the Mater had been influenced by politics.

However, Professor Brendan Drumm, the head of the HSE, told RTÉ News there was no political influence in the decision and if there had been he would have walked from his post.
