Belfast's four electoral areas could face major expansion under revised plans for new parliamentary constituencies in Northern Ireland.

Under the proposed shake-up, nearly 50,000 voters across the North would be transferred to different regions, representing 4.5% of the electorate.

The plans were announced by the Boundary Commission for Northern Ireland.

They involve keeping the number of Westminster constituencies at 18, but new boundaries would be drawn for 12 of them.
