Commission hears of Newtownforbes conditions

The Commission to Inquire into Child Abuse has been told that a doctor discovered many children in a Co Longford Industrial School with bruises to their bodies and covered in lice.
However, a representative of the Sisters of Mercy apologised for conditions at Newtownforbes Industrial School between 1940 and 1945 and said the situation subsequently improved.
