Three charged after Meath lorry hijack

The three men arrested yesterday following the hijacking of a lorry in Co Meath have appeared before a sitting of Longford District Court.

The three men arrested yesterday following the hijacking of a lorry in Co Meath have appeared before a sitting of Longford District Court.

They are 40-year-old Simon Maxwell with an address at Killinacooke, Co Westmeath, 43-year old-Thomas Maxwell with an address at Stonehall, Multyfarnham, Co Westmeath, and Philip Hickey with an address at Grennanstown, Athboy, Co Meath.

Bail for each of the three was set at €9,000 with an independent surety of €15,000. They must surrender their passports and sign on at their local garda station four days a week. They must also comply with a curfew imposed by Judge John Neilan.

However, all the men have been remanded in custody to Castlerea Prison.

All three are charged with handling stolen property, namely 22 palettes of vodka at Delvin, Co Westmeath, yesterday.
They will appear before Longford District Court next Tuesday.
