A south Dublin developer has insisted that the Minister for Social and Family Affairs, Séamus Brennan, did intervene in the Ballycullen rezoning in south Dublin despite his denial yesterday.

Speaking before the Mahon Tribunal this morning, Chris Jones said he was 'very surprised' when Mr Brennan yesterday denied meeting with him in his department offices in January 1991 about the proposed development.

Mr Brennan said it would have been physically impossible to attend the meeting as he had 'eight or nine semi-state companies to worry about that day'.

Mr Brennan admitted receiving £4,700 for Fianna Fáil's national and local election expenses from Mr Jones.

Government chief whip Tom Kitt received a total of more than £3,500 but initially remembered only one donation of £500.
