Morning Ireland: Professor Luke Clancy of Ash Ireland is seriously concerned about the increasing numbers of smoking rooms in pubs
The Licensed Vintners Association has strongly rejected assertions made today that publicans were flouting the smoking ban.
The LVA is the representative body of 95% of Dublin publicans.
The LVA pointed out that all smoking facilities provided by publicans are subject to Government regulation.
Donal O'Keeffe, Chief Executive of the LVA, said 'Two years on, by far the vast majority of Dublin publicans have and continue to uphold the smoking ban.'
Mr O'Keeffe said that to tar all publicans because of the actions of a very few was grossly irresponsible.
These remarks, he said, simply did not reflect the reality of huge compliance by publicans with the Smoking Ban legislation.
