Eamonn Casey returns to IrelandMonday 13 February 2006 17.34
The former bishop of Galway, Eamonn Casey, returned to Ireland this evening but Catholic Church sources say it is not clear when he will travel to the village of Shannaglish.
A house is being provided there for him by the diocese.
The Parish Priest of Shannaglish, Fr Paddy Callanan, told RTÉ News that it may be sometime next week before the former bishop moves into his new home.
He said Dr Casey would be given a big welcome on his arrival.
Bishop Casey left Galway 14 years ago after acknowledging that he had a relationship with an American woman, Annie Murphy, and was the father of her son.
He has been working as a curate in a parish in Sussex, southern England for six years.
