Claims of crisis at Beaumont neurosurgery unit

Professor Ciarán Bolger, a neurological consultant at Beaumont Hospital, has said the National Neurosurgery Unit is in crisis.

Professor Ciarán Bolger, a neurological consultant at Beaumont Hospital, has said the National Neurosurgery Unit is in crisis.

It is claimed there are 200 patients at present classified as urgent and waiting for beds in the unit.

At least ten of these patients are said to have life-threatening conditions.

The Health Service Executive has said it is waiting for a report reviewing neurosurgical services.
