Five employers in Co Kerry are being prosecuted by the Radiological Protection Institute of Ireland for not measuring radon gas in their workplaces.

Five employers in Co Kerry, including a dentist and a branch of a leading video rental chain, are being prosecuted by the Radiological Protection Institute of Ireland for not measuring radon gas in their workplaces.

The cases came before the district court in Tralee today and are the first such cases to come before an Irish court.

The cases against all five were adjourned by consent for six months after the court was told that by that time certain works  would  be carried out that would be acceptable to the institute.
