Six One News: Richard Dowling, North-East Correspondent, reports that the station is in poor condition, and comes under frequent attack
Gardaí have abandoned their station at Dromad, Co Louth, and will not be using it again.
They claim the building is not fit for use as a garda station and that that there have been a number of attacks on it by youths.
They also claim that since the construction of a new dual carriageway on either side of the building, the station has effectively become a traffic island.
The Office of Public Works said moves are being made to acquire a site for a replacement garda station.
