A German soldier and two civilians were killed in two suicide car bomb attacks in the Afghan capital, Kabul, today.
In the first attack, a suicide car bomber rammed a car into a NATO peacekeeping vehicle.
The vehicle was part of a convoy travelling on a main road leading east from the capital. Apart from killing the German soldier, the blast wounded two other soldiers and three civilians.
An hour later a second car bomb killed two civilians on Jalalabad Road. Several cars and neighbouring shops were damaged in the blast, which happened a few hundred metres from the first attack.
Separately, two tribal militia soldiers in the eastern Afghan province of Kunar were killed today by a roadside remote-controlled bomb. Police said the bomb was planted by suspected Taliban militants.
