The Minister of State at the Department of Health and Children, Brian Lenihan, has said the Minister for Justice is to bring proposals for an inquiry into clerical abuse in the Dublin Archdiocese to Government in the next fortnight.

The Minister added that there are no plans at present to extend the inquiry beyond Dublin.

He said the Government may have to decide to conduct inquiries in every diocese but it has not yet made a decision on the issue.

'We are not ruling anything out,' the minister said, 'but nothing has been decided.'

The Director of the One in Four Charity, Colm O'Gorman, said the Dublin inquiry should take precedent and should be established at speed.
