The Minister for Justice, Michael McDowell, has said gardaí are satisfied that money confiscated in Cork earlier this year was linked to the Northern Bank robbery in Belfast.
Speaking to RTÉ News, he said all the evidence is that the robbery was carried out by the IRA.
Minister McDowell also said there is no question of the provisional movement being able to hang on to the vast amount of resources accumulated through crime for many years.
He also rejected denials from Thomas 'Slab' Murphy in alleged money laundering cases.
