Gardaí needs ethnic members: McDowell

The Minister for Justice, Michael McDowell, has said that members of ethnic communities were not only welcome but needed in the Garda Síochána to fight crime.

The Minister for Justice, Michael McDowell, has said that members of ethnic communities were not only welcome but needed in the Garda Síochána to fight crime.

He told a gathering in Dublin of community leaders from minority ethnic groups that he wanted to make the gardaí more representative of modern Ireland.
