watch

Police in Northern Ireland have arrested two men in connection with the murder in January of Belfast man Robert McCartney.

The 33-year-old father of two from the Republican Short Strand area of Belfast was stabbed to death outside Magennis's bar in central Belfast on 30 January.

His family has repeatedly claimed that IRA members were involved in the murder.

The PSNI did not reveal where the arrests took place but confirmed the men were also being questioned about the attempted murder of Brendan Devine on the same night.

Mr Devine, a friend of Mr McCartney, had been drinking with him in Magennis's bar on the night. He received serious injuries.

In June, two men were charged in connection with the murder of Mr McCartney, and are awaiting trial.
