Spanish bomb blast after ETA warning

Police in northeastern Spain are investigating a bomb blast near an electricity sub-station.

The station was not in use at the time and there were no injuries.

The explosion happened near Zaragoza and followed a warning in the name of the Basque separatist group ETA.

The website of newspaper El Pais reported that the Basque highway agency had received several calls in the name of ETA before the blast.

Last Saturday a car bomb exploded at an industrial park in central Spain. That blast has also been blamed on ETA.

An ETA statement was released today in which the organisation said it saw 'new opportunities and new risks' in the current political situation in Spain.
