The Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, has instructed that the Dundalk Western By-Pass be opened on Sunday to accommodate the thousands of fans who will be travelling from Northern Ireland to the All-Ireland Senior Football final in Dublin.
The new 11-kilometre stretch of road will be opened at 8am on Sunday morning, four months ahead of schedule.
It will remain open until after midnight to allow for the return journey from the match.
