Experts have told a conference in Dublin that global warming could lead to more powerful hurricanes in the next ten years.

Experts have told a conference in Dublin that global warming could lead to more powerful hurricanes, on the scale of Katrina and Rita, in the next ten years.

It could also result in rainfall in Ireland increasing by more than 10% by the year 2050.

Professor Andrew Watkinson told the conference that the catastrophe in New Orleans showed how unprepared the world is for such occurrences.
