Family members of the murdered Dublin man, Joseph Rafferty, met the sisters and fiancée of murdered Belfast man, Robert McCartney, in Belfast this afternoon.
Speaking in the Short Strand, Catherine McCartney said that the common factor in both brutal crimes is intimidation.
The Rafferty family confirmed that they will be meeting with the Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, to raise their concerns when he returns from the United States.
Mr Rafferty, 29, was shot dead outside his home in Ongar near Clonsilla in west Dublin on 12 April.
Mr McCartney died after he was stabbed and beaten outside Magennis's Bar in Belfast city centre on 30 January.
Both families believe that their relatives were killed by members of the IRA and claim that republicans have refused to co-operate fully in bringing those responsible to justice.
