Loyalists attack police in north Belfast

Police in Belfast came under petrol bomb attack from loyalist rioters during a security operation in the north of the city today.

Police in Belfast came under petrol bomb attack from loyalist rioters during a security operation in the north of the city today.

Police had been conducting house searches following a UVF show of strength in the Woodvale area.

One man was arrested and a gun was seized.

Petrol bombs, bottles, bricks and stones were thrown at police during the street disturbances and a number of vehicles were hijacked and set alight.
