The DUP leader, Ian Paisley, has condemned the recent spate of attacks on Catholic and Protestant churches and homes and urged those with information to give it to the police.

Speaking on RTÉ radio, Dr Paisley also said he was willing to the meet the Catholic Archbishop, Dr Sean Brady, to discuss this problem and other issues.

In his first major interview since the IRA's July statement, Dr Paisley said he believed he would see peace on the island of Ireland in his lifetime but that the IRA would have to get rid of all their weapons and end their criminal activity.
