Gardaí are expected to travel to Colombia to pursue their inquiries into the case of three Irishmen convicted of training terrorists there.
Justice Minister Michael McDowell briefed the Cabinet on the case today, telling colleagues that all options are on the table in relation to the case.
Mr McDowell also said gardaí had been in touch with their opposite numbers in Colombia through Interpol, and it was 'probable' that they would travel there to make further inquiries.
Earlier this month, RTÉ News revealed that James Monaghan, Niall Connolly and Martin McCauley were back in Ireland, having fled from Colombia last December after being sentenced to 17 years in jail for training rebel guerrillas.
Gardaí have been investigating how the three men got back to Ireland. There have been calls for the men to either be returned to Colombia, or to serve their jail sentences in Ireland.
Authorities in Colombia have yet to make an extradition request for the men.
