More than 1,000 people from around the country attended a rally in Galway City in support of five Mayo men jailed for contempt of court arising from their opposition to the Corrib gas pipeline.
The men have been in jail for over six weeks and have been refusing to purge their contempt in relation to a Shell court injunction taken against them.
The men prevented Shell from carrying out work on the pipeline, which is to cross their land.
