Dell to open new centre in Limerick

Computer manufacturer Dell has announced that Ireland is to be the site for a newly established Centre of Competency for product development.

Operational immediately, the new centre will be based in a purpose-designed laboratory at Dell's existing campus in Limerick.

Initially employing 28 specialist staff, the centre will have research and development capability with a potential to employ a total of 50 people by 2009.

It will operate as a centre of competency for communications and network product development for use in Dell products worldwide.

The team will also be responsible for the development of innovative software solutions to provide increased functionality and productivity in Dell's manufacturing sites.
