A small bomb was defused at a police station in Co Tyrone today.

The device, described as viable, was made safe by a British Army bomb disposal expert and taken away for examination.

Police say said it was discovered just inside the fence of the Coalisland PSNI station.

The find was made after an anonymous telephone warning was made to the media.

Elsewhere in Co Tyrone, shopkeepers in Dungannon and Cookstown were advised to check their premises.

It followed warnings that incendiary bombs may have been left in the shops.
