Scientists have fired a shot at a speeding comet in an attempt to find out more about the Solar System.
They want to collect information that might hold clues as to the origins of the Universe.
The projectile, which is about the size of a coffee table, was launched from an unmanned NASA spacecraft called Deep Impact.
It is expected to make a stadium-sized crater when it crashes into the comet tomorrow.
Scientists say the projectile is due to smash into the comet at 37,000km/h, a speed that would make the flight from Dublin to New York just six minutes.
Deep Impact is equipped with four data collectors, but will be backed up by a probe that will have 13 minutes to take infrared and other images of the collision.
