The Irish Prison Officers Association has called for an immediate meeting with the Minister for Justice, Michael McDowell.

The request follows the rejection of their proposal to resolve the long-running dispute over overtime by the Irish Prison Service.

In a letter sent to the POA yesterday, the Director General of the service, Brian Purcell, said the proposal was unacceptable as it would have compromised the integrity of the arbitration process.
