Poll shows majority wants EU referendum

A new opinion poll suggests a majority of Irish voters believes the Government should go ahead with a referendum on the EU Constitution.

A new opinion poll suggests a majority of Irish voters believes the Government should go ahead with a referendum on the EU Constitution.  

However, the poll also found that a majority of decided voters would vote against such a referendum if it were held.

The poll, to be published in tomorrow's Irish Times, also found that less than one in ten voters felt they had a good understanding of what the constitution is about.
