US Navy Lt cleared of charges

A US military court has acquitted a navy commando of all charges in connection with the assault of a suspected Iraqi insurgent.

A US military court has acquitted a navy commando of all charges in connection with the assault of a suspected Iraqi insurgent.

Manadel al-Jamadi was beaten following his arrest during a predawn raid in November 2003.

He died just a few hours later in Abu Ghraib prison in Baghdad.

Navy Lt Andrew Ledford was charged with assault, conduct unbecoming an officer, making false statements and dereliction of duty.
