New York to Belfast route opensFriday 27 May 2005 18.58
The first flight in a new regular commercial air service between the New York area and Belfast arrived at the city's international airport this morning.
Continental Airlines' new service to Belfast International from Newark, New Jersey, left the US last night.
The service will operate daily during the summer and four times a week during the winter.
Tourism chiefs on both sides of the border see the new air route as vital to the development of a new strategy to draw more American visitors to Ireland.
