Talks will get underway at the Labour Court later today in a bid to break the deadlock in the dispute at Gama Construction.

The two sides were invited to talks today by the Labour Court Chairman, Kevin Duffy, last night.

Gama management is expected to attend, but the company says it is still considering its position.

The firm says what it calls illegal picketing by SIPTU is continuing and claims intimidation of employees who continue to work, as well as trespassing and occupation of company premises.

SIPTU has denied all of the claims.

Yesterday, 85 Turkish workers unanimously rejected proposals for a return to work, saying they did not trust the company despite assurances that they would get proper rates of pay, payslips and a reliable overtime recording system.

SIPTU called for a Labour Court investigation into their claims that they had been underpaid for long hours of overtime.
