The Ulster Unionist party has announced that it will convene its executive committee next month to elect a new leader of the party.
The special meeting of the Ulster Unionist Council will take place on 23 June.
The party's only surviving MP, Lady Sylvia Hermon, has been mentioned as a possible contender for the post.
Sir Reg Empey, David Burnside and former deputy leader, Lord Kilcloney are also believed to be in the running.
The party's former leader, David Trimble, resigned last week after heavy defeats in Westminster and local elections.
In the election, the UUP lost four of its five Westminster seats and had its tally of council seats reduced by 40.
