President escapes injury in Meath accident

The President, Mary McAleese, has escaped injury after being involved in a minor road accident in Co Meath.

The President, Mary McAleese, has escaped injury after being involved in a minor road accident in Co Meath.

The accident happened near Enfield at about 11.30pm last night as Mrs McAleese was being driven in her official car to her private home in Croghan in Co Roscommon.

A presidential spokeswoman said that the vehicle was struck by a wheel that flew off a passing articulated lorry.

Only minor damage was caused and there were no injuries.
