Frank McBrearty Jnr has written to the Taoiseach seeking a meeting following the cancellation by the Minister for Justice of a meeting with the McBreartys last Friday.

In his letter, Mr McBrearty Jnr asks Bertie Ahern to meet 'innocent families at the centre of the Irish State scandal, where innocent families were accused in the wrong by agents of this Irish state of crimes that they had no hand, act or part in.'

He asked the Taoiseach to meet them as soon as possible to discuss the concerns they have.

Minister Michael McDowell cancelled the meeting which was due to take place at the Dept of Justice on Friday because he claimed the family had put preconditions on the meeting, a claim denied by Mr McBrearty.
