Gama International and SIPTU have accepted an invitation to talks at the Labour Relations Commission in a bid to resolve their row over alleged exploitation of Turkish construction workers.

The chief executive of the LRC, Ciaran Mulvey, has confirmed that he and the director of conciliation services at the commission, Kevin Foley, will hold exploratory talks with both sides on Monday.

Meanwhile, the Minister for Enterprise Trade and Employment has welcomed the intervention of the LRC.

A spokesperson for Mr Martin said he hoped the remaining issues of difficulty could be resolved through proper mediation.

He said he hoped the current unofficial industrial action by Gama workers can be put to one side to allow the LRC to do its work.
