Aer Lingus has announced the appointment of Dermot Mannion as its new Chief Executive Officer.
Mr Mannion is currently working as President of Group Support Services with Emirates Airline. He will take up the appointment with Aer Lingus in August.
Commenting on his appointment, Mr Mannion said the airline's former CEO, Willie Walsh, would be a hard act to follow.
He added that he hoped to build on the continuing achievements of the Aer Lingus management team.
The Minister for Transport, Martin Cullen, said Mr Mannion was a world class chief executive and the right man at the right time to lead the airline.
He said today was another major step in positioning Aer Lingus for growth, adding that Mr Mannion brings a wealth of experience and quality to the company.
