An militant group in Iraq has claims it had shot down a commercial Bulgarian registered helicopter.
The statement was posted on an Internet website by the self-styled Islamic Army in Iraq.
The Bulgarian commercial helicopter was shot down in Baghdad this afternoon. It is the first time a civilian aircraft has been targeted in this way.
All 11 people on board were killed. Among them were six Americans.
A spokesperson for the US Embassy said the six US citizens worked for Blackwater Security Consulting, which provides security for the US Embassy in Iraq.
Bulgaria's Defence Ministry said the Russian-built helicopter was shot down by a rocket-propelled grenade.
