Plan to extend Ringsend wastewater plant

Dublin City Council is to apply for planning permission to extend its €300 million wastewater treatment plant at Ringsend, even though it only became operational in 2003.

Dublin City Council is to apply for planning permission to extend its €300 million wastewater treatment plant at Ringsend, even though it only became operational in 2003.

The council has said the additional 30% capacity is required and the move has been long planned.

However, the Green Party strongly criticised the council and called for an inquiry into the plant.
