Security at Dublin Airport to be reviewed

The Chairman of the Dublin Airport Authority, Gary McGann, has said that security at the airport is to be reviewed following the emergence of major security breaches.
The breaches were discovered during a security audit by the European Civil Aviation Council and the Department of Transport.
Speaking to the Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Mr McGann said the situation at the airport has been addressed and has now been stabilised.
He said that when the report from the inspectors is received by the DAA, any further increase in security which is needed will be put in place.
Inspectors managed to smuggle knives and a replica bomb through security.
Some passengers at Dublin Airport were delayed this morning because of the additional security measures.
An airport official said the delays later eased considerably and all passengers should arrive for their flights on time.
The Minister for Transport, Martin Cullen, has called for a full report on the matter from Dublin Airport Authority and airline operators.
Fine Gael's Transport Spokeswoman Olivia Mitchell said overcrowding at the airport was the main factor involved.
She called for a total review of security arrangements at all Irish airports.
