Six killed in clashes in Iraq

Six people, including a woman and child, are reported to have been killed in Iraq in an exchange of fire, after insurgents shot at a US military patrol in the northern city of Mosul.

The attack happened in the northeast of the city, where there has been an upsurge of violence over the past four months.

Five people were wounded in the fighting.
