Syria has announced it will begin to pull back its forces in Lebanon to the Bekaa Valley tomorrow, beginning a two-stage withdrawal.
The withdrawal will start immediately following a meeting of the Lebanese and Syrian President to discuss the details.
However, the United States and France have called for a complete and immediate withdrawal.
A spokesperson said the US will not stand by as Syria takes half measures in Lebanon.
Syria has come under intense pressure to pull out from Lebanon since the assassination last month of the former Lebanese Prime Minister, Rafik Hariri.
