The Italian journalist wounded when US forces in Iraq shot at her car on Friday has suggested the troops deliberately tried to kill her.
Speaking on Sky News on her return to Italy, Ms Giuliana Sgrena claimed the US did not want hostages to be freed by negotiations and she did not see any reason to rule out that she was the target.
The 57-year-old reporter was wounded and an Italian security agent was killed when the car in which they were travelling came under fire following her release after more than a month in captivity.
Mr Nicola Calipari's body is lying in state and will be buried tomorrow.
