Authorities in Syria have indicated that President Bashar al-Assad will announce a partial withdrawal of troops from Lebanon tomorrow.

US President George W Bush,  meanwhile, has said what he called a 'half-hearted measure' was not enough and demanded a complete withdrawal.

Syria has been accused of involvement in the suicide bombing which killed the former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafiq Hariri in Beirut last month.

Since the assassination, Syria has been under international pressure since to pull back troops, which have been in Lebanon for 30 years.
