The 20-year-old engineering student charged with the manslaughter of Robert Holohan in Midleton last January was further remanded in custody for a month today.

Wayne O'Donoghue of Ballyedmond, Midleton, Co Cork was charged with killing the 11-year-old on 4 January.

The defendant's solicitor, Frank Buttimer, told Midleton District Court today he had been informed that a delay in compiling the Book of Evidence was due to forensic and technical examinations which were yet to be completed.

However, Mr Buttimer said he believed progress on that front was imminent, and that the results may be available when Mr O'Donoghue is brought before the District Court in Mitchelstown on 1 April.

There was no objection to the remand in custody.
