Three British soldiers convicted of mistreating detainees in Iraq have been expelled from the British Army and jailed for periods of between five months and two years.
Corporal Daniel Kenyon, 33, and Lance Corporal Mark Cooley, 25, were found guilty by a court martial in Osnabruck in Germany of taking part in the mistreatment of captured looters at a base called Camp Bread Basket in May 2003.
Lance Corporal Darren Larkin, 30, pleaded guilty to assaulting an Iraqi prisoner.
Photographs, including humiliating sexual images of naked Iraqis, were taken by another soldier, Gary Bartlam, 20, who was ordered last month to be detained at a youth detention facility for 18 months and disgracefully discharged from the Army.
Victims investigated
In London, the Ministry of Defence is investigating accounts given by five men who claim to be the victims of the abuse.
The Independent and Daily Mail newspapers tracked down the men, who said they did not know that a court martial was taking place and had not been contacted about the case.
None of the victims gave evidence during the trial, which the Royal Military Police said was because officers were unable to trace the men.
However, the newspapers said they found the men within days, living about a mile from the camp.
