A total of 15 candidates are to contest the two by-elections to be held on 11 March.
At the close of nominations at noon today, eight candidates had been nominated in Kildare North, and seven in Meath.
The candidates to fill the seat left vacant in Kildare North as a result of Charlie McCreevey's appointment as European Commissioner are Áine Brady (FF), Gerry Browne (Ind), Paddy McNamara (Lab), Catherine Murphy (Ind), Seanán O Coistín (Ind), JJ Power (Green), Darren Scully (FG) and Senator Kate Walsh (PD).
In Meath, the candidates vying to replace John Bruton, who has become the EU Ambassador to Washington, are Fergal O'Byrne (Green), Sirena Campbell (PD), Shane Cassells (FF), Dominic Hannigan (Lab), Shane McEntee (FG), Liam Ó Gógáin (Ind) and Joe Reilly (SF).
Candidates have until noon tomorrow to withdraw their nominations if they change their mind.
Polling takes place between 7am and 10pm on 11 March.
