FF backs present plan for M3

The Fianna Fáil parliamentary party has accepted a motion calling for the M3 motorway to go ahead in its present format.

The Fianna Fáil parliamentary party has accepted a motion calling for the M3 motorway to go ahead in its present format.

The motion, which was proposed by four TDs and senators from the Meath and Cavan/Monaghan constituencies, was not opposed at the meeting.

The Minister for the Environment, Dick Roche, told the meeting that he was to consult with the Director of the National Museum, Pat Wallace, and would make the decision 'as expeditiously as possible'.

The Minister for Transport, Martin Cullen, said that he would 'get shovels on the ground' as soon as the decision was made.
