Incumbent Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra has won what appears to be a landslide election victory in Thailand.

Exit polls suggested Mr Shinawatra's Thai Rak Thai party would win up to 399 of the 500 seats in the country's House of Representatives.

The main opposition Democrat Party quickly conceded defeat.

But it also warned that Thailand risks becoming a one-party state.
