PSNI to overhaul police bases

The PSNI is planning a £200m overhaul of police buildings in Northern Ireland.

Almost half of the current police bases will also be reviewed and could eventually be shut down.

Heavy fortification that surrounds many existing complexes will be removed if the blueprint goes ahead.

The blueprint was presented to Northern Ireland Policing Board members today.

New stations have been earmarked for Ballymoney, Cookstown, Craigavon, Downpatrick, Omagh and Central Belfast.
